Riverside Native Perennials began in the fall of 2019 just before the pandemic. We already had a native tree and shrub nursery established and the idea of offering native perennials seemed like a natural extension of our desire to bring high quality plants to customers wanting to improve their backyard habitat or land holdings. Much like when we started the native tree and shrub nursery, we were blessed by partnering with knowledgeable people to smooth out the learning curve and to provide local provenance seed to start us out. We asked questions, did a lot of research, and experimented with growing plants. Each time we saw a new plant germinate was a cause for celebration! We succeeded with some and failed with others all the while loving the greenhouse work, the field work and the knowledge that we were doing something to make the environment more friendly to native insects and birds. Our goal is to help you improve your habitat by providing you with plants that insects and other pollinators require simply to survive. We are also committed to education. This website is designed to give you success with our plants. We’ll also take the time to teach you about the plants and their role in their respective environment. We are setting the table for insects with our plants to attract the pollinators and birds we wish to see in our landscape.
