Another white aster worthy of being grown in US gardens.  Found nearly throughout the Lower 48 this plant has appeal in a number of different areas.

The flower is very attractive bee, butterflies and beetles during the fall blooming period.  All asters provide important nectar and pollen during the waning days of summer and fall when most other plants are post-bloom.  Later, seeds are held high on stiff stems that resist breaking under heavy snow which sustain a number of field birds including fox sparrows, song sparrows, juncos and goldfinches.  Birds are messy eaters and spread the seeds which germinate readily when conditions allow.
